Privacy Policy

The short version

• You do not need an account, name, or password to practice.
• Lesson progress, XP, and streaks are stored in your own browser.
• Analytics stay off until you accept. That is Google Analytics (G-3GFMM34FLC) and Vercel Analytics.
• I do not sell your personal information. If you accept, usage data is shared with Google for analytics only.
• You can withdraw later from Settings on the banner, Cookies in the footer, or the Settings page. Reject is just as easy as Accept.
• If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, I treat that as opt-out.

No account required

Today, CardPractice does not ask you to register. There is no profile, no login wall in front of euchre or cribbage practice, and no requirement that you drop an email address before a lesson.

If I add optional accounts later, this policy will change, and I will say so on this page.

Progress stored in your browser

XP, streaks, and which lessons you have finished are saved locally on your device (in the browser). That is so you can close the tab and pick up later on the same phone or computer.

Because it lives in the browser:

• Clearing site data, using a different device, or switching browsers will look like a fresh start.
• I do not get a copy of your XP on a CardPractice server just because you completed a lesson.
• Other people who use the same browser profile on that device can see the same progress.

This is a trainer, not a cloud backup. Treat local progress as a convenience, not a vault. Theme and lesson progress are not behind the cookie banner.

Analytics

I use Google Analytics 4, property ID G-3GFMM34FLC, and Vercel Analytics to answer basic questions: which games people open, whether a how-to page is helping, and where the site breaks on a phone.

They do not load until you tap Accept on the cookie banner, or turn Analytics on in Settings on the banner or the Settings page. Reject stays on the first screen, same size as Accept. If you do nothing, or you reject, those scripts stay off the page. I do not send cookieless Google pings while you have said no.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control (GPC), I treat that as a no. No blocking banner, no analytics. You can still turn them on later in Settings if you change your mind.

If you accept, Google Analytics may set cookies and collect standard usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location from IP, device type, and referral site. Vercel Analytics measures visits. Google and Vercel handle their side under their own policies.

I use this to improve lessons and practice, not to build a marketing dossier on you. I do not use analytics to decide your hand of euchre. I do not sell your personal information. Sharing with Google is for analytics only, and only if you accept.

You can withdraw any time: Cookies in the footer re-opens the banner, Settings on the banner has the same toggle, or flip Analytics off on the Settings page. That stops the scripts and deletes leftover Google Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_*) on this site. The games still work.

What I do not collect on purpose

I do not ask for your address, payment card, or government ID. Practice is free.

I do not need your real name to deal a 24-card euchre deck. If you email me, I will have the email address you used and whatever you wrote. I use that to reply.

I do not run the lessons through a hidden identity graph. I do not sell lists of "people who practiced Hearts."

Cookies and local storage

• Local storage / similar browser storage: progress, XP, settings, theme, and your analytics choice (cardpractice-analytics-consent). That choice is JSON in local storage, not a cookie.
• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics): usage measurement, only after you accept. If you reject, or GPC is on, leftover analytics cookies from an earlier visit get deleted.

That is the set I know about today. If a lesson page needs an extra cookie to function, it will be for the trainer, not for a pop-up maze.

How long things hang around

Browser progress stays until you clear it or the browser drops it. Your analytics choice stays in local storage until you change it.

Analytics data is kept according to the Google Analytics and Vercel settings on the property. I do not need it forever. I need it long enough to see whether a new euchre explainer is doing its job.

Emails you send to hello@cardpractice.com stay in that inbox until the conversation is done and I no longer need the thread.

Children

CardPractice teaches card games. It is not aimed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child under 13 sent me personal information, email hello@cardpractice.com and I will delete it.

Third-party pages I link to

Lessons link around CardPractice (euchre, hearts, cribbage, practice tables). If I ever link off-site, that other site has its own privacy rules. This policy covers cardpractice.com.

Changes

If the trainer starts requiring accounts, adds a new analytics tool, or otherwise changes what is collected, I will update this page and the date at the top.
